This message was read by Rahul during the funeral services:

On behalf of my mom, myself and my families I would like to welcome you all to this sad occasion and to be part of my babuji's final journey.  Myself, Sangeeta and my sister, Sarojni are physically not present but we are in his heart.  When I visited New Zealand in January I knew that this was my final stay with my bapuji.

There are only a handful of people who come into our world, and touch our life in a dramatic fashion.  Some of the people are just flickers of light during a long life, while others are a consistent glow for years.  For me, bapuji was my consistent glow.  My Bapuji had good 88 years of his life and all his children are all well settled and living.

As I grow up and he gave his best to me and from his heart; all the education he gave me was important in my life.  He had good and bad days, happy and sad times too and I saw him go through all these phases.

He used to have good ring of friends in Fiji; Pata Gang and they called him Johnny. I saw him having fun and enjoying himself with his gang, playing cards, picnics and even fighting and arguing etc.  He is rembered by all his gang; namely Lalji Kaka, Mohan Kaka, Chiman Bhai, Late Nagin Bhai, Kanti Bhuta and many other friends who are not present or near him.  He will be definitely missed by all cousins, families and friends from Fiji, New Zealand, Australia, America, Canada, England, and India.

He loved watching Movies and TV and spent much of his leisure time doing this.  I remember him going to the movies with my mom as we stayed at home (older ones watching the young ones).

I was a part of him, when I left Fiji; I left a part of my body behind, my Bapuji never stopped me but I know from inside he was saying don't go.  He always encouragaed me for what I am now and he never stopped me from doing whatever I wanted.

He said something that will stay in my mind for a long time.  He would say, work hard and save.  This is what he did; till the end he was saying that. He also used to say "I want to go for World Tour. I am saving for my old age and going to live more than 100 years".  This year while leaving New Zealand I was trying say to good-bye to him but then he says "who will cook and talk to me".  Now you are saying good-bye to me; who will talk to me now and who will I ask money from".

When I am up beside you, be sure to remind me that I owe you quite a few dollars bills.  I hope you accept that gratuity for all wonderful memories that you gave me.  I want you to know that I will be there for Ba always in any difficult time.  Bapuji, I love you.  I miss you.

You have graced my life more than you will ever know.  God Bless.

Yours

Pushpa

We thank with all the messages of sympathy and condolences and the floral tributes that we received gave us the strength to deal with our Bapuji's death.  It was indeed very comforting to see that there were people who cared and spared a thought for us who shared our grief.  And it was thoughtful and kind of you all to take the time to share your memories of Bapuji with us.

Thank you.

From my mom, brothers, sisters and rest of the families.
